Inventory · 05 · History & migration

Bring your Stocky history. Leave your stock alone.

Upload your Stocky CSV exports. Preview the mapping, review anything ambiguous and keep past purchase orders as an archive you can report on. Imported receipts never add units to Shopify.

Archive only · live stock unchanged

Illustration with sample data: a CSV import before anything is saved.

The problem

Changing apps shouldn’t mean losing the past.

2×

Old receipts received twice.

Importing historical receipts the wrong way adds the same units to stock a second time.

1 SKU, 2 matches

Ambiguous matches slip through.

A SKU that fits two variants gets assigned to the first one, and the history is wrong from the start.

missing column

Gaps nobody notices.

An export without a column imports anyway. Months later the supplier spend report is short and nobody knows why.

How it works

An import you review before it lands.

The original file is kept with the archive.

  1. 01

    Upload the export

Add a Stocky CSV export. The original file is stored with the import.

  2. 02

    Map and preview

Inventory maps columns to suppliers, orders and variants and shows a preview. Missing fields are listed before anything is saved.

  3. 03

    Resolve the doubts

Ambiguous SKU matches stop for review. Uploading the same file twice is detected, so history is not duplicated.

  4. 04

    Archive

Records go into history used by reports. Current Shopify quantities stay exactly as they were.

On the record

What the import protects.

Your history arrives without touching what is on the shelf today.

  • Live Shopify stock, unchanged by imports
  • The original source file
  • A list of fields the export did not include
  • Duplicate file detection
  • Manual review of ambiguous SKU matches
  • Imported history in your reports

Questions

Before you ask.

Which files can I import?

Stocky CSV exports. The preview shows which columns were recognised and which are missing before anything is saved.

Will importing change my stock?

No. Imported receipts are archived history. They never add units to Shopify.

What if I upload the same file twice?

The duplicate is detected and the history is not imported a second time.

Where can I read about Stocky’s timeline?

Shopify’s help center has the current information. Our migration guide links to it.
